Are you still at episode 17? I think the last time you posted an episode review, it was 16: the Submarimon episode.

Rather, I'm at 16 actually. The Submarimon episode is where I have to kick in.

Between my internet issues, lack of time, and being forced to watch Eureka Seven episodes, it's made me fall off the Digimon sub-wagon again.

Just make it to the end of the Kaiser arc, man. Finish what you started so long ago. You owe it to yourself.

And behold the awesome-ness that is episode 19.

Skipped to episode 23 for no good reason, but man do I love it!

For some reason I remember feeling really sorry for Ken in the dub of that episode, but everything was just kind of... there when I watched it in Japanese. Of course, I only remember a few scenes from the dub (and none of the forced jokes, thank goodness), but I remember being really moved. I highly doubt the dub was better, so I have a feeling that it's because I already knew what was going to happen when I watched it subbed, so it didn't really impact me.

To repay you for watching episode 23, I'll get episode four of 999 watched soon. Every time I come to the Digimon thread and see no replies, I think of how you must feel whenever you go to the Galaxy Express thread.

Hehe!  xP Then I suppose I"ll have to watch more Digimon.

Spot-checking the dub of this episode - not fond of little Ken's voice, but I surprisingly don't hate the dub music!  Must be nostalgia.  Lots of bizarre added dialogue, but it's of the half-decent kind wherein there are no added jokes.  Definitely, they make Osamu a bigger jerk.

It must have been the music. Digimon's dub score was actually pretty dag'gum good. The main Digimon dub theme could get annoying after a while, but the instrumental pieces were always great, at least for the first two shows.

That might have been the reason the dub of this episode impacted me so much.

I've already told my friends that if I'm not just plain sucked in to Eureka Seven by episode 13 (which is apparantlly the end of an arc or something), then I'm dropping it for a while at least. I got to episode...7 or 8 is where I need to start there, so as soon as I'm watching again, I'll be able to get through that quick enough, and maybe be back to Digimon after that.

The last episode of Digimon Adventure 02 I've watched was ep. 21. Aside from the nostalgia factor and wanting to get it over with, it's really hard to muster up the will to watch another episode.

Almost every episode is exactly the same as the previous one, with some little changes here and there so that you can't call it an exact copy. The last episode I actually liked was ep. 13 (Dragomon's Cry), mostly because it didn't follow the exact same formula that the previous 12 episodes followed.

Wow, stock footage.  Not cool episode 20!  We literally just saw those same attacks and Bakemon under 3 minutes ago.  Flipping does not constitute new animation.  Also, Ken is the Burai of Digimon. He's one of the main reasons I like 02 over 01.

On inconsistencies people have noted previously: I always just thought our Digimon that were in Champion form had digivolved out of range of a dark spire and then gone to aid them.

I hate episode 20 with a passion. Horrible character designs, and even more stock footage than Digimon normally uses (and that's saying a LOT). Luckily it's sandwiched between two of the best episodes in the series.

Commercials are placed in the WORST places.  Freakin'  A, I wanna see Paildrama kick this guy's butt!

Scratch that, it's a two-parter apparently. Still took me by surprise.

edit- biggest sub failure yet.  Weregarurumon?  I think you mean Wargreymon.  Seriously, how do you give one Digimon a different one's name - one centric to the plot, no less?  MetalGarurumon's name is already on screen anyway. Seriously.

They're not only inaccurate, but inconsistent. I really hope that if we're ever graced with a DVD release, somebody with either retranslate the whole show or do some serious quality-checking.

In one early episode, they actually gave Myotismon his Japanese name - only, with an n rather than an m.  It's clear they outsourced.

I refuse to watch the "official" subs because they are so much worse then other subs that are out there it is ridiculous.

I've only just started watching the show again (best thing ever), hopefully a company gets the rights to release all seasons uncut.

(im up to episode 7, pretty good).

I don't think it matters that there are better subs out there.  The official sub has something all of the others don't have:  it's legal.

Have to say the potty humor in 22 was a treat. A Digimon gets angry because someone saw him peeing? Yeah, totally unexpected. Nice episode.

Also have to add that the music is surprisingly good for a kid's show. The jazzy piece seems out of place, but it's nice to listen to. It just needs a few more pieces here and there so it doesn't feel so repetitive.

But the previews are the worst. They're pretty much episode recaps instead of a sneak peek.
