I can't wait. I loved the anime so I've been dieing to see this one for a while now. So they are dubbing it though? I'm normally hesitant to watch live-action stuff dubbed but...well, how has FUNi's other stuff live-action turned out, assuming they were dubbed? Not as bad as what you normally expect for live-action dubbing are they?

I've never seen anything live-action dubbed by FUNi, so I have no clue. I'm not even sure if they're using the original cast.

Ga-ah! If they're gonna dub a live action of an anime they've already got, they should really use the original cast if you ask me. Though...looking at live-action Ginko and hearing Travis might be a bit odd, granted. I guess I can see the argument of different actors too. But I'd still much prefer the original cast.

I'm pretty sure they'll cast Travis as Ginko.  Nothing else would really make sense.  But then again, hearing that guy sounding like Travis might be a bit odd.  Still, Travis is an established part of the Mushi-Shi BRAND in America, and as such he should voice Ginko in the movie.

I wasn't aware (or forgot) that FUNimation had licensed this. I have the UK version which is subtitled only.
FWIW our cover looks like this:

I agree that dubbing would have to be Travis I think of Ginko and it's instantly Travis Willingham's voice much as I do with other manga when I read Mushi-shi now I hear Travis speaking as Ginko like I do in FMA when I hear Ed I hear Vic and Travis for Roy and Todd Haberkorn as Lin (but that's who I want to play him) and Aaron as Al same with Fruits Basket and Tsubasa and xxxHolic ^^;. So yeah it'd be weird hearing the voice of Travis on that guy but Travis is definitely needed as Ginko even if the rest of the cast isn't the same....I mean it's not like there are any permanent roles besides Ginko right?

So apparently, against all news reports, this DOES have a dub, but for the life of me, I can't find a cast list.

I'm curious to see if Travis Willingham got the role.

I've had the DVD for about 3 weeks now, but I haven't watched it yet. I will try to get the cast list now.
Update: Travis is Ginko in the dub. In all honesty the voices sinking up somewhat. I think Travis's fits Joe's mouth movements pretty good, while the rest is your typical, laughable English dub on a Japanese movie.
I was surprised when I learned this DVD even had a dub, I didn't expect it at all. (Not that it changed much because I'm a subs kind of guy ).
Should be good though, I'm excited to finish it.

I found the dub to be very good except for one case..young Ginko. I heard the voice of Aaron Dismuke coming out of that kid and was like "Wha?".I mean he was o.k. in the anime version but his voice must have changed recently. I found the rest of the cast were great though.

I have the DVD and have watched the film.

The cast list is all EXACTLY the same except for one person and that is because the Japanese director decided to change a major thing from the manga/anime in the film. Maho is now a girl and as such, has a new voice actress (though I'm sorry to say I don't remember who it is). Also, the story of how she got her horns and how she loses them are ENTIRELY different. Maho gets her horns by stealing one of her mother's which fell off when she died, she is then haunted by her mother's voice, which causes horns to grow on her head. The way that Maho gets rid of them is by becoming "detached" from the memory of her mother...Ginko takes the horn and crushes it, causing Maho to go into shock and the horns fall off. It's been a few weeks since I've seen the film, but it was great. It kept some of the anime storylines, but also added really interesting new storylines as well.

If anyone gets the chance to watch or buy this, I'd recommend it as a fan of Mushishi, seeing as we will never get a second series to go with the second half of the manga (even though the anime director and the mangaka REALLY want to have a second season).
