But Best Buy prices are Best Buy prices. There are a lot of other places or specialswhere you can get stuff for cheap. Not to mention that FUNimation has nothing to do with how Best Buy sets up their prices aside fron the MSRP. That's their business, not FUNi's.

Shadow Raditz, choosing to wait for price drops makes funi less likely to release more OP. Also, complaining about the price is silly, (I live in the UK, so I have to pay a bit more to get them than you), it works out as just over £2 an episode for me, which in my opinon is fine, my only complaint is the speed of release, I'd like to buy 13 episodes a month at least.

So, if guys at funi are listening, faster releases would be nice. Rumours I read somewhere suggested that the dub was into the alabasta ark (note, these rumours could be entirely unsubstantiated). So, why do we have to wait for january to see the start of the Arlong arc?

If it is because the dvds aren't selling that well, then, fans, how dare you call yourselves fans? The fan should give something back for what they enjoy. I know there are 1000s of one piece fans. Maybe even 10s of thousands.

Ok, they want to watch the fansub, it's much further into the series, but, downloading the fansub and not buying the dvds leaves the anime studios with no insentive to make the stuff we love. at the moment, £30 a dvd, one dvd every 4 months = 25p a day aprox, now, that's about a quarter of a pack of sweets each day, or half a can of coke. Seriously, it's not a lot of money.

If the release rate were upped, it could get to the point of being a pack of sweets, or 2 cans of coke a day, again, not much money.

So, fans, get out there and buy these dvds. And funi, please, you're doing a great job, just a little faster would be nice...

Here, Here! I think the release time for the DVDs is ridiculous due the length of the show.... 379 episodes and counting. I will buy One Piece DVDs Once I'm finished buying the DBZ Season Boxsets and when FUNimation releases all of Season 1 of One Piece.

With 13 episodes every 4 months, they're coming out slower than they appear on tv in japan. (13 * 3 = 39, in japan 4 a month = 4 * 12 = 48)

I of course understand that if they aren't selling well enough, it may just not be viable to release them faster at the moment...

I know I'd love to see sooner release dates (Jan. 20th, eh?), but I think there could be another reason why it's running so slow...speculation on my part, but there could be some truth here.

I was reading this thread (http://community.funimation.com/tm.aspx?m=8544&mpage=7   forgive me, I'm still new and trying to figure out how to work things...like links) and AstroNerdBoy said at the bottom that one issue FUNimation is dealing with is the license that Viz has on the episodes, and how it has to expire first before the episodes in question are released.

Granted, this post was from...2007, I think...but it's plausible, right? Or has Viz's license for the entire series (with the exception of the manga) expired already?

FUNimation already has the rights to those episodes and that's why they are dubbing and releasing them.

CelestialSushi: That license was for eps 1-144 (I may be 2 or 3 out on the top number there) As eps 1-26 have been released by funi that license has obviously expired. (I'm assuming it's acceptable to call funimation "funi", if I'm wrong can someone please correct me...)

To Funimation from Me. I never got into One Piece when 4Kids had it, but when you guys picked it up, it sparked interest for me. I have bought every One Piece dvd that you have put out, and I will continue to do so. I am a loyal fan that spends his hard earned money for an Anime that I love. So I am doing my part, and Im looking forward to Third Voyage!

I got a message from Kyle Hebert and he said that they are working on the script for the Alabasta arc sometime before or after Christmas. He said he plans to reprise his role as King Cobra.

That's cool, if they're at the alabasta arc, we really could have faster releases, perhaps they just need to see better sales, or maybe they're going to pick up the pace sometime very soon.

Again, if it's sales, I propse that we all try and get our frined s to buy one piece, surely it won't be too hard to boost these sales figures

Well that's not entirely accurate. One Piece has been known to take breaks from time to time. It tooks a few weeks off in the end of October.

That's pretty unreasonable. The most that you can expect is a bi-monthly release schedule. Which is what Naruto (a much more popular series) gets.

Why is it unreasonable, if they're dubbing the drum island arc (which is what some rumour sources have passed on), they could do some speed releases until the releasing gets closer to the dubbing, and then slow down again. Of course, I fully understand them not doing this if sales aren't high.

Dubbing is just one part of the process. DVD authoring, audio mixing, packaging, subtitles, extras, and not to mention that One Piece isn't their only show. All of these factors have to been taken into account when setting up a release schedule.

Well, all I can say is that we expect faster releases when they reach the Skypeia arc (again).

How about we change the topic a bit.

Sub vs Dub (I mean funi's in both cases)

I currently prefer the sub, though I haven't watched much of the dub, the dub seems more childish then the sub to me, and I really like hearing luffy say "gommu gommu no..." I just think it sounds cool. (I'll elaborate more if anyone else is interested in the discussion, note, I'm not saying the dub sucks, I think both the dub and sub are excellent, this is just intended as a discussion about which each of us personally prefers and why)

I guess no one took a look at that site I posted a while back, huh? Well, it's down now, but it had FUNi's release plans for next year on it.

EDIT: I found a scan of the schedule

I'm aware of that Seasons 1-2 won't get completely done until early 2010 (Season 2: Voyage 4). Season 3 doesn't get released until 2010. I'm talking about Season 4. FUNimation mostly have those episodes dubbed already, so it is just a matter of releasing them at the appropriate time (after Season 3). By what Kyle Hebert said, FUNimation is already wrapping up Season 2.
